Hocking Hills Loop
Tight and wooded, with real reasons to park
- Distance
- 30mi approx
- Drive time
- 1 hour without stops
- Start
- Logan, OH
- End
- Logan, OH (loop)
The road
A short loop through the sandstone gorges of Hocking Hills State Park. OH-374 is the interesting pavement, threading between the trailheads for Old Man's Cave, Cedar Falls and Ash Cave. More a drive-and-walk day than a driving road, and better for it.
Worth knowing
- Old Man's Cave, Cedar Falls and Ash Cave are all a short walk from the road
- Cantwell Cliffs on the northern end, quieter than the rest
- Dense hemlock and sandstone — it does not look like the rest of Ohio
Before you go
- This is a busy state park. Summer and autumn weekends fill the lots and the road.
- Sightseeing traffic stops without much warning near trailheads.
- The gorges hold moisture; shaded corners stay damp.
Best season
Spring for water in the gorges, October for color
